FIT TERMINOLOGY: Style, Fit, Cut, Sillouette
Manufacturers use various terms to describe their fit such as “classic fit”, “slim fit” and “fitted”. Such terms are useful, but non-standardized, and different items using the same terms can vary in proportions.
Gildan is a very popular brand, and one of our staples. Their chart is below:

DETERMINING YOUR SIZE: 2 Different Measurement Methods
1) Measure a Garment That Fits You
We recommend that the best way to determine your size is to measure a well-fitting garment in your closet (don’t just accept that garment’s label letter size). Add back any shrinkage, then compare to size chart measurements.
BODY WIDTH: Lay garment flat. Flat measure the garment across the chest 1″ below the armhole.
BODY LENGTH: Lay garment flat, face down. Measure from center back neckline seam straight down to back bottom hem.
SLEEVE LENGTH: Lay garment flat, face down. Measure from center back neck to outer edge of shoulder seam, then along outer edge to sleeve end.
2) Measure Your Body
When measuring your body for a shirt, allow for some space between the chart measurement and your body for comfort, and also for possible shrinkage (depending on type of fabric).
